Cobras

The best known and the most feared snakes around the world is the cobras. Thousands have been bitten each year by theses deadly snakes, and many die from the bites. A single mistake when handling these poisonous snakes and you can be going to heaven or hell right away. Most cobras strikes at their enemies with their fangs but some can spit poison at them. So if you are in Africa, or the middle east, make sure you watch out for these guys.

The two types of species of cobras are the Naja which cover most of the middle east,it is also covered with a coat of smooth scales and lay eggs. The other one is the Hemachatus has raised, somewhat buffed scales and bears live birth. Both species are ill-tempered and dangerous in the wild. All of the Hemachatus and some of the Naja are capable of "spitting" their venom or poison at an intruder, but it actually isn't spitting. What happens is that the snake raises the forward part of its body, then tilts its head and neck slightly backward. This is followed by a muscle contraction upon the two venom glands, after which the liquid toxin is ejected through an openings near the tip of each fang.

The Rinkhals Hemachatus hamachatus, venom is more diluted than that of other cobras and, for that reason, it can spray an intruder 8ft away. Should the towin, no matter how much would hit your eyes, you will feel the immanent pain. If the venom is not washed out immediately, there is a possibility of blindness. Never rub your eyes with venom present. You can wash out the venom with water, milk, or even beer but you must clean out your eyes!

Cobras can either inject lethal dosage of venom by sinking their needle-like fangs in your skin or spit out the liquid into your eyes. They are experts at doing both of them. Cobras are know to be in the sand, rivers, and trees. They can climb trees that are 20ft tall, and they cover the land from the near sea level to montane haunts at 7,500ft. They are even known to live in human territories.

So if you are wanting to go to Africa, or the middle east and see one of these beautiful yet dangerous snakes please either go around them or go back the way you come because the outcome of you being next to it will result bad. Make sure you are always on the look out for these snakes, because even if you feel like you won't get bit, you can always be wrong.
